The premiere begins with a glimpse into the Barrie family's broken history: as children, Sally and Kaden come home to discover their mother has vanished, leaving their father Robert shattered and declaring her name forbidden in their house. As years pass, the home itself changes—most notably the cellar door, which grows more and more hidden with time.
